Product Description |
Handcrafted in Spain by leather artisans, Piel Frama cases are renowned worldwide for their exquisite quality and workmanship. Piel Frama uses only the finest locally-sourced materials, eco-friendly manufacturing techniques and careful attention to detail. The result is a soft, supple leather product that is extremely durable, ergonomic and that has a minimal impact on the environment.
The contemporary European styling is both sophisticated and highly functional, offering excellent protection for your Kindle 2 (6-inch) while providing convenient access to the keypad and features. Piel Frama cases completely envelope the Kindle 2, serving as an effective shield against scratches and screen damage. To add rigidity and prevent stretching, the cases contain a strong core of a ABS and are stitched with high-end thread.
The case has cutouts for the next page, back and previous page buttons, headset, power connection, USB, volume, on/off and speakers. The Kindle 2 case has a slim profile document compartment, providing additonal utility. The case is lined with soft leather, creating an executive feel while offering greater protection for your device.
A superior leather goods manufacturer since 1945, Piel Frama entered the mobile device case-making business by producing cases for mobile phones in 1984, the same year modern cell phones were introduced. The pioneering case maker uses natural and biodegradable products to tan and finish the full-grain leather materials, as well as in its glues. Every case is carefully cut, assembled and sewn by hand, finished with an embossed message inside: "The product you have just acquired has been hand-made by Piel Frama craftsman, so each piece is unique."
If you desire the look and feel of luxury in handmade Spanish leather, a Piel Frama case is the right product for you. More than just lasting protection for your technology investment, these cases are truly a work of art. |

For those looking for more protection and elegance than provided by Amazon's Kindle 2 hinged case, look no further!

The case fits like a custom-made fine leather glove--great aroma, too! It is a perfectly crafted and beautiful case! I had the original Amazon Kindle 2 cover and it is no where near the quality and feel of this Piel Frama case. My Kindle 2 is well protected all around. It no longer dangles between the flaps as it did with the Amazon's case due to the hinges. The Kindle's edges are not flush with the edges of Piel Frama's case, adding even more protection. The front flap, which rests on the screen, has just the right amount of cushion for protection but without adding excessive bulk. The back is stiffer for stability and robustness. As expected, all controls, ports and speakers are accessible. It has a simple document holder on the inside flap as well. I love this style case because I can open it and close it with ease--and read one-handed-- whenever and wherever I feel like reading spontaneously. In conclusion this case is no run-of-the-mill mass-produced product made along with a million other things in some Chinese factory. Support more businesses like Piel Frama!

Piel Frama - I'll never stray again

I've had 3 Piel Frama cases: for a Palm Pilot, a 5G iPod and an iTouch. In each case (sorry for the bad pun) the craftsmanship was top notch (for as little margin for error as there is in such small devices, each case was tailored precisely and fit snugly); each case is lined; the leather has worn like iron, absorbing scratches and bounces from dropping; the protection provided, design and functionality are unfussy and straightforward.
The Piel Frama for the Kindle is no different: good fit; the covers are stiffened with ABS inserts; the front cover is slightly padded; quality leathers; trimmer than the Cole Haan cover that it replaces. The Cole Haan was a beautiful case (dark brown woven leather) as well, but it was a first generation that used elastics at each corner to hold the Kindle in. One corner eventually became unsewn and the others are, after about a year, beginning to lose their tension. The Kindle's sliding ON/OFF switch, while not covered by the elastic at the upper left hand corner, is close enough to, and protrudes about as much as the elastic is thick so as to make it difficult to catch enough of the switch with the fingernail to slide easily.
Piel Frama's solution to securing the Kindle to the cover is to create a sort of leather box into which the Kindle slides. There are cutouts in the "box" that allow access to the keyboard, screen, and all the rest of the controls and ports, including the sliding ON/OFF switch at the top. The fit is accurate and snug and the front cover is easily folded back for reading with one hand. This does away with the elastic corners and seems a better, safer solution than the "Kindle hinge" which apparently has a tendency to crack the Kindle's case unless held to the right side of the back cover with the (seemingly) inevitable elastic corners. And it's some $40 less than the Cole Haan. |

this is EXACTLY what imagined the perfect case would be like for my Kindle2. very well made, my Kindle slips right in but i don't have to worry about it falling out or cracking from a hinge attachment (i would freak out if my Kindle cracked!!!!). the cover folds back completely with ease for one hand reading. it is stiff enough so i don't have to worry my Kindle when i throw (not literally) my beloved Kindle in my diaper bag with all the other crap that is required for outings with a toddler. AND it is beautiful, simple and the leather is quite nice. love love love this case. not sure why there aren't more people raving about it.
just a little side note: originally i ordered both the pebbled leather and smooth leather Cole Haan hinge attaching cases (only planned on keeping one) but after i read how some Kindles had cracked using similar attaching type cases i freaked out and did a serious hunt for an alternative and found this one. all three cases arrived within 2 days. the Cole Haan ones weren't nearly as well made as i had expected. looked kind of cheap and the leather was too soft and flimsy to give my Kindle the type of protection i prefer. needless to say, those two were immediately boxed back up and returned. |
Look no further for the perfect case

There is simply no comparison between the M-edge cases and this. The leather is extremely high quality. The slip in design is far superior to the clip on and elastic tab designs. The ability to flip back the cover with one hand and have it stay folded is a nice change. and since the cover spine is not plastic, when you flip back the cover to protect the Kindle face, it stays there and does not slowly reopen itself.
Go ahead and spoil yourself with one of these cases - you and your Kindle deserve it. |
The Perfect Kindle Cover

After reading reviews of various Kindle covers and seeing the number of users that had experienced or were concerned about cracking of the Kindle case, I started looking for an alternative that did not use the side tabs. The Kindle slides firmly into an 'envelope' enclosure with opening for all buttons, speakers, and controls for a perfect and secure fit. This is much more secure and durable than covers that use flexible straps to hold the corners which can catch or stretch out over time.
The cover itself is high quality padded leather with a very confortable feel, and can fold back flat for one-handed reading.
I am a bit surprised that there haven't been more reviews or recommendations for this cover. I was impressed enough by this product that I have purchased additional Piel Frama covers for other electronic items and have recommended them to friends and family who have been equally happy with their purchases.
This product would be my first recommendation for anyone looking for a high quality cover to protect their prized Kindle.
