Ever wanted to be a Ghostbuster?

I grew up in the 80's, on movies like Back to the Future, Superman, Karate Kid, and of course, Ghostbusters. I remember fondly playing "Ghostbusters" with my friends, imagining that we were capturing ghosts, and then playing the original video game when it came out for the Commodore 64 and Apple Computer, and later for the Nintendo. Like others who grew up during that time, I'm now in my 30's, have a family of my own, and can no longer easily sit down and play video games for 10 hours straight. Nevertheless, I was pleasantly surprised when I received this game as a present for Father's Day. My first thought upon receiving this was "when am I ever going to have time to play this game?" But I've managed to get in some ghostbusting a few minutes at a time in the evenings after the family's taken care of and the little one is asleep.

For anyone who ever imagined what it would be like to be a ghostbuster, this game delivers. You get to walk around carrying a proton pack, hunting down ghosts, inflicting ridiculous property damage, and hang out with the entertaining ghostbusting crew. The game is filled with references to the two films, including most of the original voice cast, and even Janine the secretary returns with her witty sarcastic banter. The result is that you really feel as if you are taking part in the next Ghostbusters movie. It's terrific, and full of laughs.

After a few sessions I'm starting to get the hang of aiming the proton streams, setting traps, using the PKE and dodging attacks. The game is a full on experience, with graphics, special effects, voice-acting, music, and story all making you a part of the Ghostbusters team. I look at this game not as a hardcore gaming experience, but as a fun nostalgic romp. For anyone who was a fan of the movies growing up and ever dressed up as a Ghostbuster, this game is for you.

What a fun game!!

Makes you feel like you're really busting ghosts....only thing that annoys me though is according to the Hollywood Video where we pre-ordered it, the pre-order version was supposed to come with a proton wand attachment for the Wii remote to fit into. Not sure if Atari cancelled that or not....and in reality it would probably not work well as you need to point the remote at the screen. Other than that little quirk, it's a fun game. The controls take a few minutes to get used to, but once you do (with the help of on the job training) it becomes second nature to slam that ghost around in your capture stream then wrangle him over to the trap you've just thrown. I've only just started to play, but so far I'm loving it.
Who ya gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS!!!!!!!!

Well UPS delievered my Ghostbusters The Video Game for Nintendo Wii a few hours ago, and I LOVE IT. This game makes me think back to my childhood, and while its based on the movies more then the cartoon, it brings me back to the good old days, when I used to "dream" about growing up to be a Ghostbuster. LOL The only complaint I have about the game, and its not the game itself, its the Wii is I wish that the graphics were like the PS3 or Xbox 360 versions are. However, this game is AMAZING! Its fun, the graphics, while cartoonish, are wonderful, and the sounds are realistic. I couldnt help but smile when Ecto-1 started up with the scirne blarring, and the Ghostbusters theme played. The controls are easy after a few minutes, and it really feels like you are busting ghosts. If you were a Ghostbusters fan, or are just looking for a awesome game, GET IT. I havnt enjoyed a game this much in a LONG time.
Generally you don't see that kind of behavior in a major appliance...GHOSTBUSTERS the VIDEO GAME!

Do you believe in UFOs, astral projections, mental telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, spirit photography, telekinetic movement, full trance mediums, the Loch Ness monster and the theory of Atlantis?

Everyone knows who to call....after the Coke logo...the Ghostbuster icon maybe the most recognizable logo around...there's a reason....the original movie is a terrific well-loved film. I'm so glad the game has finally arrived...The 80's classic Ivan Reitman film GHOSTBUSTERS returns, not just as a game, but a well-made video game....still co-scripted again by co-creator and Ray Stantz DAN AYKROYD, including all the voice talent and ERNIE HUDSON, BILL MURRAY, co-creator HAROLD RAMIS, Annie Pots as Janine, (minus Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis) other voice talent Doyle Murray, Max Von Sydow, Erin Gray.....The paranormal investigations and eliminations specialists who aren't plumbers are back along with some familiar faces and places return like Stay Puff, Slimer, Gozer the Gozerian, that EPA guy Walter Peck, the old firehouse, and the Sledgwick Hotel.

The objective: Players are Rookie Ghostbusters who hunt, track, wrangle, capture and neutralize all the paranormal thingys from ethereal manifestations to Class 5 full-roaming-vapors (even the nasty ones), using new and largely untested hardward, thus your title as the Experimental Equipment Technician....theres a Gozer exhibit at an NYC museum and trouble ensues while the boys in gray are trying to start GB franchise opportunities and keep public destruction to a minimum.

All the equipment you know and love are available to play with the PKE meters for finding spooks, PKE goggles, containment traps and Proto Packs for particle accelerating streams and more, along with new goodies like the Slime Blower, Slime Mine and Stasis streams.

The Wii version is tooned up, but still pretty neat to look at, 1 or 2 player action, loads of unlockables and the Tobin's Spirit Guide will help players through "on the job training."

As a fan of the movies ( and animated series) I can't recommend this game enough.Only complaint is lack of on-line play options...see other platforms for more.
(sing along) Bustin' makes me feel goooood....I ain't afraid of no ghosts!

While I am of the generation that remembers Ghostbusters t-shirts, happy meals, action figures, toys, etc when America went ghostbuster crazy...I can't say I totally remember all the movie, nor was I ever a fanatic of it even though I DID, very much, enjoy it.

Too, I typically only purchase wii games that involve fitness (boring, I know), although I sometimes make a few exceptions.

Thankfully, this game was one of those exceptions!

This is important because I can say, therefore, firsthand that you don't have to be a Ghostbuster movie fan in order to love this game. No, you don't have to know anything about it in order to "get" this game and love it and laugh out loud with the fun. It also matters not whether you are an avid gamer, occasional gamer, Ghostbuster fanatic, or never heard of it, or have a very limited game collection or a massive one...this will MAKE you a Ghostbuster megafan and THIS is a game, in my humble opinion, you gotta get for your collection!

My memory of the movie? Wishing I could do that... that "What a wicked cool job!" thought that so many of us who have seen the flick felt.

Ah...the wait is over. Who woulda thunk it? :-)Now it's your turn!

This game feels almost like a sequel as to what would be happening 20 years later if I (or you!) got cast as the new ghostbuster in a 2009 film. You are thrust into the center of the action rather than watching from the theater seats this time. It's your turn to find the ghosts and nab 'em. And you get all the g-bustin' toys to enable you to accomplish that mission as well.

Part of the fun is not just trapping the ghosts but the thrill and the tension of finding them as well. You can scan for hidden objects or **shudder** slime left behind that lets you know you are near an entity. You'll also use meters that go off and beep to add to the excitement. yep, it's all there...all the toys, all the action, great details to make you stay up all night and not wanna put down that ghost meter.

So what happens when you, pro ghost tracker that you are, find yourself squarely in front of your tracked-down evil apparition? Ah, it's fightin' time! And that is TOO fun! The ghosts will fight you and your ghost-suckin' vaccuum and squirm and thrust about as you work to aim well and maintain capturing momentum. Do you always succeed? No, these ghosts really are evil. They threw stuff at me til I was knocked out way before my first mighty capture. Thankfully, it wasn't terminal. The other ghostbusters are there as well and, remember, this is a team. They'll help fight with you (love that!) and, apparently, also help you when you are ready to pass over to "the other side" yourself after a ghost wins the fight, as I can state first-hand.

I liked the graphics and loved the characters. You'll hear the voices of Annie Potts (I totally forgot she was in this movie as the secretary until I played this!), Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray...yep, the stars are starring in the videogame as well.

I think this is a brilliant game idea. It's fun, it's funny, you have to act as both detective and fighter and you are in the middle of the action this time.

As far as the animation, I liked it. No it's not "realism" but I thought it was well suited to the game and real enough for full enjoyment.

I think, regardless of your interest or skill level or knowledge of the movie (if any) this is so much fun for all...action-packed ghostbusting by you where anything can happen in a world that contains the undead and amazing attention to detail.

A+ fun!
