The LN40B650 features Samsung’s new Internet@TV online content service. Developed with Yahoo!, Internet@TV uses either a wired or wireless Ethernet connection to access content onscreen from Yahoo!, Flickr, YouTube and more with the push of a button. The widget-based interface and scrollbar run along the bottom of the screen for easy browsing of the latest programs and content. This B650 model also includes a 2 GB flash memory with pre-loaded entertainment features that can be updated by downloading content from Samsung’s web site via the Ethernet connection
You get superb connectivity and networking with 2 USB ports–for playing MP3 audio and displaying JPEG/MPEG files–and four HDMI 1.3 ports, and it also bumps up the sound with 15-watt bottom stereo speaker and an integrated subwoofer. This HDTV is accented by Samsung’s TOC (Touch of Color) bezel design, which offers a hint of red translucent color around the edges of the unit for a uniquely fashionable look. Plus, it’s Energy Star compliant, which helps you be green while saving on your electric bill.

Connect HD digital devices like disc players, game consoles, and satellite dish components into the two rear connections and use the side-mounted input for cameras, camcorders, and laptops. Full HD 1080P
Full HD, or 1080p, contains 1.5 times more scanning lines than conventional HD TVs. More scanning lines mean more pixels, more details and a better picture. The new Samsung LCD TV with resolution that is approximately 2 times greater than conventional HDTVs, creating the most perfect picture imaginable. Samsung’s 1080p panel uses a new high-speed liquid crystal to cut response time to 6ms (milliseconds).
Auto Motion Plus 120Hz:
This technology doubles the frame rate from 60 to 120 frames per second (120Hz LCD panel) without repeating the same image to make more frames. Instead, the TV intelligently calculates the ‘middle’ image between frame A and frame B and inserts it in between (Auto Motion Plus 120Hz processor), making a fluid transition from one frame to the next.
Wide Color Enhancer 2/Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp:
The NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) has established the color standards all TVs in America try to meet. And typical LCD TVs only meet about 72 percent of this standard. Beautiful, Feature Rich and Future Proof
I returned the 40A630 that I bought last month because of one dead pixel, and I replaced it with this spanking new model (date first available at Amazon on March 9th). This LCD TV is really beautiful – the “Red Touch of Color” is not quite subtle but I’m sure you’ll like it as much as I do (it will match whatever furniture you have). The picture quality of this model (100,000:1 contrast ratio) is quite stunning compared to the 40A630 (40,000:1) that I returned.
This TV offers the newly introduced Internet@TV. Currently, only Samsung B series has this feature, other manufacturers will incorporate this feature in their future models. This feature is better than the first generation Infolink (RSS feed) that’s offered by the A series. You can actually add all sorts of TV widgets, which in the next couple of months will include some of the big online content providers (NY Times, Netflix, eBay, Twitter, Google, etc). Currenly, only Yahoo widgets are available (news, weather, Flickr, finance). You can connect your TV to the internet via ethernet, or you can plug Samsung’s Wireless USB adaptor (sold separately) in one of the 2 USB ports.
Other notable features:
a) 2 USB 2.0 slots – I use one slot for the included flash drive which contains the TV manual, and the other slot for my 8GB flash containing pictures, music and video.
b) Content Library – Intenal flash with preloaded content like cooking recipes, artwork screensavers, games, and pre-school children contents. You can download more contents from the internet. I don’t find this feature interesting. I tried it twice during the first week, and I haven’t explored it again since.
c) Swivel base – I think Samsung is the only brand that offers this feature, which I find really useful.
d) Firmware upgrade via direct internet connection.
Get this TV, you won’t regret it. Your friends will be envious if you tell them about the great features of this TV, which are not yet available in LCD TVs prior to March 2009.
